  • Didiscus caeruleus, is an annual that is commonly called Blue Lace Flower, and its name does a good job of describing the appearance of the blooms. They are lavender-blue in color and have large umbels that resemble lace.
  • Lace flower is a 28 inch tall annual growing in USDA zones 5 – 10.
  • It is also sweetly scented which just adds to its appeal. Blue Lace Flower also has greenish-silver foliage that is very attractive as well. It likes full sun to partial shade, reaches 28 inches in height, and makes a wonderful cut flower.
  • Start the seeds indoors in spring 6 – 8 weeks before the last expected frost. Press the seed into the soil and cover with 1/16 inch of soil.
  • Sowing Rate: 3 – 4 seeds per plant. Keep the seeds moist and with temperatures between 65 – 70F, germination is normally within 30 days. Transplant outdoors after risk of frost has passed.
